Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air, symptomatic treatment. In case

of indisposition, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition, seek

medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,

nitrogen and sulfur together with sodium and lithium

compounds.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1).

For dry residues sweep up spill, transfer to suitable

containers. For spillage of dye solution absorb with an

inert material.

Dispose of both by incineration in accordance with local

regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling organic

chemicals. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with

skin and eyes. Impermeable gloves and safety goggles should

be worn. Avoid dust formation, wear a dust mask and use

dust-proof filling apparatus where appropriate.

Storage: Store in tightly closed, unbreakable containers  (eg in

polyethylene bags in sealed steel drums) away from

foodstuffs.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in consumption of 90% by

irreversible binding to textiles.

Recovery for recycling is therefore not practical.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility, using

temperatures in excess of 1200 deg C.

Waste gas treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen and sulfur

and sodium and lithium compounds should be fitted

(A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Approximately 10% of the total quantity used is dicharged

into industrial effluents as a highly diluted solution. The

waste water can be purified by membrane filtration or by

floculation with cationic agents or by treatment with ozone.

Membrane filtration is the most effective method removing

more than 99% of the dyestuff.

(A641)

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form

of dyed articles which may be disposed of as normal domestic

waste.
