Description of key information

The purpose of this study was to determine the static acute toxicity of 2 -sec-butyl-4,6 -dinitrophenol (dinoseb) to daphnids. The study was conducted to standard methodology but no details of analytical monitoring are reported within the study. The data were needed to fulfil requirements established in the NPDES permit (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) issued to the Michigan division of the Dow Chemical Co.
Dinoseb was highly toxic to daphnids, with a reported LC50 value of 0.24 mg/L.

Additional information

- In the key study, Gersich, F.M. and M.A. Mayes, 1986, the static acute toxicity of 2-sec-butyl-4,6 -dinitrophenol (dinoseb) to daphnids was tested.

Dinoseb was highly toxic to daphnids, with a reported LC50 value of 0.24 mg/L.

The reliability rating for this study is 2, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the study conducted according to standard methodology with no analytical chemistry performed and no confirmation of GLP status.
