Name:
Diisobutyryl peroxide
Type of composition:

State / form:
liquid
>= 97 - <= 100 % (w/w)
Reference substance:
Diisobutyryl peroxide
Reference substance:
Diisobutyryl peroxide
This additive is considered relevant for the classification and labelling of the substance
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence

Due to a combination of factors, chemical reactivity, hydrolysis, thermal degradation and ready biodegradability it can be concluded that Bisisobutyryl peroxide is not persistent.

Bioaccumulation

Both the parent and the degradation products of Bisisobutyryl peroxide have a low potential for bioaccumulation as indicated by the Log Kow measurements. Furthermore the extremely rapid hydrolysis, chemical reactivity and ready biodegradability all suggest that bioaccumulation of Bisisobutyryl peroxide or its subsequent degradation products will not occur.

Toxicity

Bisisobutyryl peroxide aquatic toxicity data does not result in a classification for aquatic toxicity. In addition Bisisobutyryl peroxide has not been classified as Carcinogenic,Mutagenic or Reprotoxic. It has also not been assigned any of the following : T,R48,XN,R48 or STOT RE classifications. Bisisobutyryl peroxide is therefore not considered to meet any of the PBT toxicity criteria.
