Additional information

The substance is an inorganic, solid chemical, which is highly insoluble in water. Water solubility is 0.87 microgram per litre. Abiotic and biotic degradation investigations of the substance are hence not required according to REACH. Since bioaccumulation and adsorption of the substances is not expected based on its physical-chemical characteristics, the substance does not pose a hazard life and further exposure and risk assessments for surface water, sediment, soil, and groundwater compartments of the environment are not required, according to Annex VII to Annex X of REACH. Even if fine textured particles of the substance may enter the environment, particles will be filtered by soil and sediment so that no groundwater contamination will occur. Any particles retained by soil or sediment and of particles which may be present in nature by sedimentation from effluents will add to the natural pool of the substance which is abundant in nature as “Pyrrhotin”, “Troilit” and “Mackinawit”.
