Additional information

A study was performed in order to evaluate the toxic potential of Nicotinsäurepentylester towards freshwater shrimp, using the species Daphnia magna. The study was conducted in accordance with the following guidelines :

-OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals No. 202, Part 1; adopted April 4th 1984 „Daphnia sp., Acute Immobilization Test and Reproduction Test" Part 1 - Acute Immobilization Test

-EU-Guideline C.2. "Akute Toxizität für Daphnien", adopted July 31st 1992

The study was conducted in compliance with the Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). All validity criteria were met. In the initial experiment, four concentrations of the test item in a geometric series (spaced by factor 10, the highest being 1000 mg/L) were used. For each concentration, ten daphnia were exposed to the test item for 48 hours.At the concentrations 1000 and 100 mg/L, all animals were immobilized, and at the concentration 10 and1 mg/L, none of the daphnia were immobilized. The main study was performed using six concentrations between 10 and 100 mg/L. Three concentrations showed toxicity betweeen 0 and 100% immobilization. The following results were determined for the test item Nicotinsäurepentylester in the acute toxicity test against Daphnia magna :

- 24h EC50i = 65 mg/L

- 48h EC50i = 48 mg/L

- 48h NOEL = 21 mg/L
