A full discussion on the justification on read-across of data for the 4,4´-isomer of MDA for oligomeric MDA in the scope of REACH is presented in section 7.6 of this CSR.

In the TNO study toxic effects of 4,4'-MDA to terrestrial plants Avena sativa and Lactuca sativa were observed (TNO, 1992). Valid results from the short-term toxicity tests with plants were obtained. Results from long-term tests are not available. Therefore the lowest acute toxicity test result (ie EC50 = 128 mg MDA/kg soil (d.w.)) may be considered, together with an assessment factor of 1000, to derive a PNEC value.
