Results and discussion

Effect levels
Sex:
male/female
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Remarks on result:
other: Not determined as only two of 10 animals died at the single concentration tested.

Any other information on results incl. tables

Two male (no female) rats died following a single 6-hour inhalation exposure to substantially saturated vapour of Y-9445. Both had dark red lungs at necropsy. Signs of toxicity for males and females included hypoactivity, salivation, lacrimation, dermal irritation (erythema), coordination loss and prostration.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
In a non-guideline acute inhalation study, not conducted to GLP, the LC50 for 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propiononitrile was greater than the "substantially saturated vapour".
