Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The lowest available NOEC -based on read across - was considered key for deriving this endpoint. The NOEC from the 21 d study with EDTA-Na2H2, 25 mg/L, corresponds to 26.3 mg/L HEDTAFeNa.

Additional information

Two reliable long term studies are available which can be used for assessments.

The long-term toxicity of EDTA-Na2H2 on Daphnia magna was measured in an reproduction test according to GLP criteria [BASF AG, 1998]. After 21 days of exposure a NOEC of 25 mg/L was observed (equivalent to 26.3 mg/L HEDTA-FeNa).

Another study with DTPA acid as well as Fe complexed DTPA confirmed low toxicity of the Fe complex substance, a NOEC was established at 67 mg/L DTPAFeNa2, which would correspond to 48.3 mg/L HEDTA-FeNa.

For justification for read-across see IUCLID 5, Chapter 13, however the lowest of the two NOECs is the proposed key information.
