Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Classification relevant information for environmental hazard:

Degradation

Biodegradation: not readily biodegradable (48% within 28 d)

Hydrolysis: half-life: = 6.9 h at neutral pH and room temperature

Bioaccumulation

Log Kow:

Bis(trimethoxysilylpropyl)amine (parent): Log Kow = 0.2 (QSAR)

Bis(trihydroxysilylpropyl)amine (hydrolysis product): Log Kow = -4 (QSAR)

Aquatic acute toxicity

Fish: LC50 (96 h) > 100 mg/L (nominal)

Aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48 h) > 100 mg/L (nominal)

Algae/aquatic plant: ErC50 (72 h) = 36 mg/L (nominal)

Aquatic chronic toxicity:

Fish: no data available

Aquatic invertebrates: no data available

Algae/aquatic plant: NOErC (72 h) = 8.3 mg/L (nominal)

Classification according to CLP

Bis(trimethoxysilylpropyl)amine (CAS 82985-35-1) is not considered rapidly biodegradable. Experimental data are available covering the potential acute toxicity of three trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae) while chronic toxicity data are available for algae. The lowest acute and chronic effect values were indicated for algae (ErC50 = 36 mg/L and NOErC = 8.3 mg/L). Since adequate chronic data were obtained for the most sensitive species and NOEC/EC50 are clearly > 1 mg/L the substance is not classified and labelled concerning environmental hazards, according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and further amendments (ATPs).
