Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No measured data are available for the short-term toxicity to fish of the registration substance. The assessment of effects is based on available data for its constituents. The available information suggests that the constituents of the registration substance would not be toxic at the limit of solubility. It is not recommended to attempt a test because of the extreme technical difficulties that are to be expected in maintaining exposure concentrations.

Additional information

A 35-d NOEC value of >140 ug a.i./L has been determined for the effects of a structurally-analogous alcohol, pentadecanol branched, on the growth, survival and hatchability of the freshwater fish Pimephales promelas. No statistically significant effects were observed at the highest concentration tested. Spine curvature was observed in a few individuals in the treatment vessels.

The constituents of the substance has been estimated by expert judgement to be non-toxic in fish at the limit of solubility. The statement is based on the available data in the category group, which indicates that no toxicity is observed at the limit of solubility with alcohols with carbon chain lengths ≥C15.
