Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Experimental date related to skin or respiratory sensitizing properties of dimethy 2-nitroterephthalate are not available. QSAR-Analysis using the OECD QSAR Toolbox revealed a negative prediction for skin sensitizing properties with a confidence level of 83.3%. Additionally methyl hydrogen 2-nitroterephthalate a substance of similar chemical structure with similar PC-data (water solubility, Log Pow) was found to be not a skin sensitizer when tested in the LLNA. Based on these data dimethyl 2-nitroterephthalate was considered to be not a skin sensitizer.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
OECD QSAR toolbox: negativ
Read across substance of similar chemical structure and similar PC-data: negative
Conclusion for dimethyl 2-nitroterephthalate: negative

Justification for classification or non-classification

Available date from QSAR-Analysis and read across towards a substance of similar chemical structure with similar PC-data support the conclusion that classification is not warranted.
