Results

To determine the melting behaviour (three independent single measurements), the test item was measured by DSC between -90 °C and 50 °C with a heating / cooling rate of 10 K/min in 2 cycles. For the measurement a capsulated crucible was used. The test item Ethyltris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium ethyl sulphate shows no melting of crystalline subcomponents between -90 °C and 50 °C according to the definition in the OECD Guideline 102 (mean value from repeat determination). At ambient temperature the test item is a liquid. The cooling run shows no crystallization. In the 1st heating run the test item shows a glass transition temperature of amorphous components at about -69 °C.

Conclusions:
The test item Ethyltris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium ethyl sulphate shows no melting of crystalline subcomponents between -90 °C and 50 °C according to the definition in the OECD Guideline 102 (mean value from repeat determination). At ambient temperature the test item is a liquid.

Executive summary:

The melting temperature of the test item was determined in accordance with the test method OECD Guideline 102 “OECD Guideline For The Testing Of Chemicals, adopted by the Council on 27th July 1995, Melting Point/Melting Range” (similar to the test method A.1. “Melting/Freezing Temperature” as described in the Official Journal of the European Communities L383A).

Description of key information

The test item shows no melting of crystalline subcomponents between -90 °C and 50 °C according to the definition in the OECD Guideline 102 (mean value from repeat determination). At ambient temperature the test item is a liquid.
