Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If breathing becomes difficult get

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15

minutes, lifting upper and lower eyelids occasionally. Get

medical attention if irritation persists.

Emergency measure - Skin: Flush with soap and water for 15 minutes. Remove

contaminated shoes and clothing. Wash before reuse. Get

medical attention if irritation develops.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Induce vomiting immediately as directed by medical

personnel. Get medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder or

appropriate foam.

Product arising from burning: Lithium and iron oxides, phosphorous oxides, carbon dioxide

and carbon monoxide.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective

clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: In the event of an accidental spill place the solid material

in an appropriate container, wash the spill site with soap

solution and flush the spill area with copious amounts of

water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Wear suitable gloves;

Wear chemical safety goggles;

Keep container tightly closed when not in use;

Use only in well ventilated areas to avoid inhalation of any

dusts.

Storage: In accordance with Phostech Lithium Inc.'s commitment to

environmental stewardship and corporate due diligence,

Phostech Lithium is dedicated to enforcing stringent

operational procedures that reduce or eliminate the

potential for product loss to the environment and for

adverse product loss effects on receiving environments.

Little or no fugitive emissions are expected to arise during

transport, handling, and storage of the notifiable

substance.  The following safety practices further ensure

the safety and reliability of the processes:

- Use of secure and reliable carrier trucks, which are

owned and operated by accredited carriers who are already

regulated by provincial and federal governments;

- Use of secure and reliable packaging; and

- Use of well-trained staff for all loading, unloading,

handling and storage operations

At the customer's facility, the notifiable substance will be

unloaded and stored until used.  All loading and unloading

of the notifiable substance is expected to be carried out by

well-trained staff.

It is expected that customer's will ensure that the

potential for worker exposure to the notifiable substance is

well controlled and limited and have the following worker-

safety procedures routinely practiced:

- Periodic workplace inspections to ensure that all

programs are in place and that employee exposures are

below acceptable thresholds;

- Industrial hygiene and hazard-communication programs,

which include the provision of routine personal-protective

equipment and informing the workers of the identity and

potential hazards (if any) of chemicals used in their

respective work areas; and

- Medical surveillance programs and early-alert systems

designed to identify any potential development of adverse

effects.

In this way, the potential for occupational exposure to the

notifiable substance is expected to be minimal.

The notifiable substance should be stored in a dry location

at normal room temperature.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Steel drums (50 to 250 liter volume) with polypropylene bags

inside.
