Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General advice

In all cases of doubt consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

If inhaled

If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Immediately consult a physician.

In case of skin contact

Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If irritation persists consult a physician.

In case of eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids.

Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists call an ophthalmologist.

If swallowed

Rinse mouth immediately and drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps. Consult a physician.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

irritations

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, Dry extinguishing powder or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable extinguishing media

High power water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Emission of irritating and toxic fumes and gases.

in case of fire very toxic fumes may be released: Carbon oxides, Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Hydrogen bromide (HBr), Hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid)

Advice for firefighters

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

Additional information

Use water spray jet to protect personnel and to cool endangered containers.

Do not allow run-off from fire-fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing dusts, vapours, mist or gas. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Wear suitable protective respiration equipment.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil.

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Take up carefully when dry. For larger quantities: Use suitable dust binding material.

Collect in closed and suitable containers for disposal.

Clean up affected area.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling

When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe vapors.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Usual measures for fire prevention.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated area. Keep away from heat.

For storage in a common place refer to the respective regulations.

Store separated from strong oxidising agents.

Specific end uses

Use as intermediate under strictly controlled conditions.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Additional advice on limit values

Dust limits (inhalable and alveolar fraction) must be respected under consideration of national provisions.

Exposure controls

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Wash hands before break and at the end of workday.

Appropriate engineering controls

Provide sufficient ventilation, emergeny shower and eye shower near the workplace.

Eye/face protection

Wear tightly fitting safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166

Skin protection

Handle with gloves (EN 374). Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contactwith this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices.

Recommended material: Nitrile rubber

Minimum layer thickness: 0.11 mm

Break through time: 480 min

Body Protection

Complete suit protecting against chemicals, The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

Respiratory protection

Wear respiratory protection equipment. Use type P3 (EN 143) particle respirator. For higher level protection use type ABEK-P2 (EU EN 143) respirator cartridges. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as CEN (EU).

Control of environmental exposure

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

In general: For flammable organic substances dust explosion potential is assumed when finely dispersed in air.

Chemical stability

The substance is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

No hazardous polymerisation will occur under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Conditions to avoid

Strong heating.

Incompatible materials

Strong alkali, strong acids,

strong oxidizing agents

Hazardous decomposition products

Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions (see respective section).

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal

Chemicals and packages as waste must be disposed of in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and the respective national and local regulations. Consult your local or regional authorities.

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation.

Contaminated packaging

Do not contaminate ground- or surface waters via drainage, by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes. Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
