Additional information

Dichlorosilane is a gas at standard temperature and pressure, with a reported boiling point of 8°C. Therefore, the requirement to conduct a vapour pressure study is waived because the vapour pressure is expected to exceed the limit of measurement (i.e. 1E+05 Pa) at ambient temperature.

In contact with water, dichlorosilane hydrolyses very rapidly to form silanediol as an intermediate hydrolysis product. The ultimate hydrolysis product is silicic acid. The vapour pressure of both hydrolysis products has been determined to be <1E-06 Pa at 25°C using a validated QSAR estimation method. Although the model is not validated for inorganics, the result is indicative that the vapour pressure is negligible.
