Additional information

No data on aquatic toxicity of Sodium iso-propylate are available. However, the test substance rapidly hydrolyses into

sodium hydroxide (CAS No. 1310-73-2) and propan-2-ol (CAS No. 67-63-0) in the presence of water. Therefore, an ecotoxicological effect would be mediated by the two hydrolysis products. The hydrolysis products are not classified for aquatic environmental hazard according to Annex VI of the CLP regulation. Additionally, due to the use of the test substance as a intermediate, exposure to the environment is expected to be unlikely.

Conclusion on classification

The test substance rapidly hydrolyses and the hydrolysis products are considered to be relevant for the ecotoxicological potential of the test substance. The hydrolysis products sodium hydroxide (CAS No. 1310-73-2) and propan-2-ol (CAS No. 67-63 -0) are not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment according to AnnexVI of the CLP regulation No. 1272/2008.
