Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study, investigating the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., tetraesters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 68604-44-4), was used as read across for Fatty acids, C16-18, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 85116-93-4). This substance is structurally and composition related to Fatty acids, C16-18, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 85116-93-4). The static study (Wierich, 1998) with Daphnia magna according to EU Method C.2 (Acute Toxicity for Daphnia) showed no immobilisation after 48 h at the tested concentration (100 mg/L). Therefore, the EL0 (48h) was ≥ 100 mg/L and the EL50 (48h) > 100 mg/l. A conclusion by analogue approach has been applied. Based on the analogy it can be concluded that no toxicological effects on aquatic invertebrates are expected for Fatty acids, C16-18, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No.85116-93-4). Therefore, the substance is not harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
