Additional information

The substance is readily biodegradable and no hazard was identified for aquatic organisms (acute and long-term studies available in fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae). One short-term toxicity test on a soil macroorganism (nematods) is available in which the low toxicity was confirmed (LC50 =7960 mg/kg soil dw). This study was conducted according to ASTM E2172-01 guideline (2001). It was considered valid and used for PNECsoil derivation in accordance with the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.10: Characterisation of dose [concentration]-response for environment, and used in the risk assessment.

The chemical safety assessment indicates that the risks in the soil are controlled (PNEC/PEC < 1). Therefore, at this stage, in accordance with the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7c: Endpoint specific guidance and based on the available information on aquatic organisms and nematods indicating very low toxicity, long-term studies on the effects of the substance on soil macroorganisms except arthropods, terrestrial plants and soil microorganisms are waived.
