Magnesium bisulphite cookng liquor as an isolated-intermediate is kept under strictly controlled conditions. There are several automatic warning systems connected with a process control system to enable immediate counter actions in case of any leakage. These systems comprise control of liquid spillage (pH and/or conductivity sensors) and gas break out (SO2 sensors). Any detected leakage would immediately cause counter actions:
Liquid spillage: closure of piping, warning of waste water treatment plant, alarming fire brigade
Gas spillage: closure of concerned area, alarming fire brigade
According to the classification of the chemcials used in magnesium bisulphite cooking liquor use of personal protection equipment is obligatory for persons entering the areas.
