Description of key information

There are tests on the acute toxicity on several freshwater fish species available. The lowest effect values in tests using adult fish were obtained using Lepomis macrochirus as test organisms. The 96h-LC50 were determined to be in the range of 19.8 - 37.5 µg/L (Smith 1976a) and 20 – 30 µg/L (Smith 1970).

Additional information

Furthermore, a number of tests on early life stages (eggs, juveniles) were conducted. The effect values obtained in these tests are generally lower than in tests on adult fish (e.g. Smith 1976b), but higher than studies on chronic toxicity. These test results were not considered for the PNEC derivation, as no appropriate assessment factors are available.

Valid tests on the acute toxicity to adult marine fish are not available.
