Executive summary:

In a study (CRTL, 2009), the flash point of 4 -tert-butylcatechol was determined according to the regulation (EC) n°440/2008, A.9.

The cup of the apparatus was filled with the sample. The heat was supplied at a constant rate 5 to 6°C/min with stirring at 120 rpm.

The tests were performed with a temperature ramp beginning at a predetermined temperature.

The determined flash point (closed cup) was 158°C at 1005 hPa.

This study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirements for a flash point study.
