Description of key information

Zirconium acetate does not contain any chemical groups indicating explosive properties. The non-explosiveness is confirmed by DTA analysis.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Considering the chemical structure of the substance and taking Appendix 6 of UN regulation for the use of screening procedures to assess explosive properties and the ECHA Endpoint specific guidance (R.7a) into consideration, zirconium acetate is concluded not to contain any chemical groups indicating explosive properties. This conclusion is confirmed by the DTA analysis showing no significant exothermic decomposition energy below 500 °C.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on an assessment of the chemical structure of zirconium acetate, this substance is concluded not to be explosive and needs subsequently not be classified for this endpoint. This conclusion is confirmed by the DTA analysis showing no significant exothermic decomposition energy below 500 °C.
