Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The test item is hydrolytically unstable under the test conditions of OECD 111. The results suggest that half-life is short, probably less than one hour at 5 °C. At environmentally relevant temperatures, the substance will undergo hydrolytical degradation significantly faster. Seven degradation products were present in GC chromatograms, six of which could not be identified unambiguously. The proportions of the reaction products were variable over the study period. Only the decomposition product 2,4,4-trimethyl-1-pentanol (CAS no 16325-63-6) could be identified with sufficient certainty, hence be quantified against an external standard.

With respect to REACH Annex VII the test substance bis(3,5,5-trimethoxyhexanoyl)peroxide can be considered as unstable since the hydrolytical half-life is clearly below 12 h (criterion according to REACH Annex VII, point 7.7).

Additional data on the photochemical stability of the substance are neither available nor necessary.
