Additional information

No studies of genotoxicity are available for phosphorus pentasulphide. The substance reacts rapidly and violently with water or moisture (i.e. under physiolological conditions or in any test assay) to form hydrogen sulphide and phosphoric acid. Published, negative Ames tests are available for these degradation products; read-across is proposed to phosphorus pentasulphide.

Short description of key information:
No studies of genotoxicity are available for the substance, however Ames tests are available for the breakdwon products hydrogen sulphide and phosphoric acid.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification for mutagenicity is proposed, in the absence of any indication of mutagenicity in the available studies.
