Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two key density values were retained. The first one is an average density of 5.72 g/cm3 for a series of samples with CaO content between 3.7 and 4.8% w/w and varying particle size distributions (Börger and Kurz, 2014), whereas the other is a value of 5.49 g/cm3 for a sample with 10% CaO w/w (Börger, 2015).

Additional information

The results of two key studies, both applying the pycnometer method, were retained (Börger and Kurz, 2014; Börger, 2015). The first study measured the density of six samples with CaO content varying between 3.7 and 4.8% w/w and varying particle size distribution. The average density of these samples was 5.72 g/cm3. The second study measured the density of a sample with 10% CaO w/w and reported a density of 5.49 g/cm3.
