Phototransformation

After evaporation or exposure to the air, the reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen

will be rapidly degraded by photochemical processes.

Hydrolysis

Hydrolysis is not expected due to the absence of hydrolysable groups.

Biodegradation

The reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen is not readily biodegradable.

Experimental data on the biodegradation in water, sediment and soil of the reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen are not available. Based on the screening tests on biodegradability (5.2.1) it is expected that the reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen is not biodegraded through growth linked processes.

Bioaccumulation

Significant accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

Adsorption

Adsorption to solid soil phase is not expected.

Henry's Law Constant

From the water surface, the reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen will not evaporate into the atmosphere.

Environmental distribution

Over time, the two relevant components, 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene, will preferentially distribute into the compartment water (99.9%).
