Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

With high probability no toxic effects on aquatic invertebrates in the range of water solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since the toxicity of the test substance towards aquatic invertebrates could not be assessed on the basis of acute data, chronic data of the structure analogue substance 4,6-bis(octylthiomethyl)-o-cresol (CAS 110553-27-0) was used for the assessment. This GLP guideline study was performed according to OECD guideline 211 and DMSO was used as solvent. The 21-day EC50 for the reproduction rate of Daphnia magna could not be calculated due to the absence of a toxic effect up to the highest test substance concentration of 0.016 mg/L (= 0.0088 mg/L average measured concentration). Therefore, the NOEC for reproduction can be established as >= 0.0088 mg/L (NOEC is above water solubility of this substance).
