Description of key information

Study has been performed on the substance for NONS, but limited information provided making it difficult to assess and should be disregarde for PNEC estimation. This suggests NOAEC of 2 mg/l. Work on the most toxic degradation product for these substances suggests NOAEC of 32 mg/l

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water invertebrates

Effect concentration:
32 mg/L

Additional information

Daphnia reproductive effect for triethanolamine is 16 mg/l. This study has also been cited in the disseminated dossier for triethanolamine (Source: European Chemicals Agency, http://echa.europa.eu/) and has been used to set a PNEC of 32 mg/l based on a molar ratio of 50% for the alcoholamine.
