Description of key information

Additional information

Appearance:

Incozol 3 is a pale yellow liquid at 20 °C and 1013.25 hPa.

Freezing point:

A study according to method A.1 was conducted. The test item did not exhibit signs of freezing down to the minimum test temperature of -20 °C. Thus, the freezing point is expected to be below -20 °C.

Boiling point:

The boiling point of Incozol 3 was determined according to Regulation (EC) 440/2008 method A.2 using the differential calorimetry scanning method. The DSC was calibrated with indium reference standard. The boiling temperature of Incozol 3 has been determined to be 227 ± 0.5 °C at 101.1 kPa.

Density:

A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.3 using the pycnometric method. The relative density of Incozol 3 was determined to be 1.00 at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.

Vapour pressure:

The vapour pressure of Incozol 3 was determined according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.4 using the vapoure pressure balance. The vapour pressure of Incozol 3 was determined to be 0.08 Pa at 25 °C.

Partition coefficient:

An estimation was performed by a fragment constant methology using the specialized chemical estimation software, KOWWIN, v1.67. The software was validated with reference substances which had common or similar functional groups present as Incozol 3. The partition coefficient log Pow of Incozol 3 was calculated to be 0.06.

Water Solubility:

No determination of water solubility was possible due to the instability of the test material in the presence of water. Therefore, the water solubility was estimated with WSKOWWIN to be 612 g/L at 25 °C.

Surface tension:

The surface tension was determined according to Commission Directive 92/69/EEC method A.5 using a white electrical Institute interfacial tension balance. Incozol 3 is known to be highly reactive towards water. Therefore, the value obtained for the surface tension is most likely that of the hydrolysis products and not of the parent material. The surface tension of a 1.05 g/L solution of Incozol 3 and/or degradation products has been determined to be 70.9 mN/m at 21.0 ± 0.5 °C. Incozol 3 and/or degradation products are considered not to be a surface-active material.

Flash point:

A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.9 using the equilibrium method closed cup. The flash point of Incozol 3 was determined to be 66.75 °C at 102.41 kPa.

Auto flammability:

The auto-ignition temperature of Incozol 3 was determined according to Regulation (EC) 440/2008 method A.15. The auto-ignition temperature of Incozol 3 was determined using the flask method. The auto-ignition temperature for Incozol 3 was determined to be 244 ± 5 °C at 102.3 kPa.

Flammability:

The test on the flammability (Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.10) was not performed as Incozol 3 is a liquid. For liquids the primary value for ease of ignition is the flash point conducted using Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.9. The result of the Flash Point test is used to allocate a liquid substance into the appropriate flammability class. The tests on the flammability in contact with water (EU method A.12) and the test on pyrophoric properties of liquids (EU method A.13) were not performed as experience in handling and use indicates that a negative result would be obtained.
