EC50 for freshwater algae:
37 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
9.2 mg/L

Additional information

A study was perford to assess the effect of the test item on the growth of the green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. The method followed was designed to be compatible with the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals (2006) No 201, "Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test" referenced as Method C.3 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 761/2009. The 72 -hr EC50 was > 37 mg/L a.i. based on the growth rate.

Based on the data for linear and branched alkylbenzene sulfonates, linear structures are more toxic than branched structures. Therefore, data on linear materials, e.g., the chronic aquatic studies using LAS, are considered to be a worst case scenario.
