Additional information

1,7 -Octadiene exhibits considerable water solubility (10.45 mg/L) and, given the calculated values for log Koc in the range of 2.64 – 3.47, some potential for adsorption to organic soil and sediment particles. Therefore, both water and sediment are compartments for the environmental distribution of the substance. 1,7-octadiene is not readily biodegradable and hydrolytically stable due to missing chemical groups that are known to react under hydrolytical cleavage. QSAR estimation revealed rapid degradation of the substance by photolysis with a half-life of 2.2 h. Finally, the substance has a high value for log Kow (4.0) and therefore bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms cannot be excluded.
