Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

MBB was found to be non-hydrolyzable at pH 7 and 9, when tested at 50°C for 120 h in an anaerobic condition (according to OECD 111).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a first hydrolysis test, MBB was found to be unstable (OECD 111). As the test material does not contain easily hydrolysable groups, the relatively rapid transformation of MBB at all tested conditions (pH 4, 7 and 9, at 50°C for 120 h) indicates that the test material undergoes transformation via other routes. An initial hydrolysis test was conducted under both oxic and anoxic conditions. After 24h, 94% MBB remained in the anoxic condition compared to only 2% under oxic condition. This confirmed the significant role of oxygen in MBB stability.

The subsequent hydrolysis test was conducted under anoxic condition, where MBB was found to be non-hydrolysable at pH 7 and 9, (OECD 111)
