Additional information

Acute studies on all three trophic levels were performed to investigate the aquatic toxicity of the test substance. 2-propylheptyl acrylate shows no toxic effects in the range of water solubility towards fish and aquatic invertebrates. Toxic effects were only found towards algae. Due to the photolytical instability of 2-propylheptyl acrylate the test concentrations of the test substance could not be quantified by analytical methods in this test. Therefore, the effect concentration was expressed as nominal concentration (ErC50 = 84.9 mg/L).

No data on long-term toxicity of the test substance to aquatic organisms are available. However, the chronic results of two analogy approaches (n-butyl acrylate, CAS 141-32-2; ethyl acrylate, CAS 140-88-5) for aquatic invertebrates can be used for assessment. The most sensitive NOEC of 0.14 mg/L (reproduction) was obtained for Daphnia magna after 21 days of exposure to n-butyl acrylate.
