Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A LC50 > 100 mg/L has been determined for fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of Tetramethyltrimethylenediamine (TMPDA) to Danio rerio for a duration of 96h was assessed according to the OECD guideline 203 and GLP requirements (Gancet, 2009). Fish were exposed under static conditions to 100 mg/L of TMPDA dissolved in dilution water (limit test) without pH adjustment. The concentration of the test substance was maintained during the test period and validity criteria were fulfilled. Based on the test results the 96h LC50 of TMPDA for Danio rerio was determined to be higher than 100 mg test item/L based on nominal concentrations.

The acute toxicity (lethality) of TMPDA to Leuciscus idus was assessed according to German standard DIN 38412, part L15 during 96h (BASF, 2009). The fish were exposed to a concentration range of 10 to 100 mg/L and in parallel, a limit assay with a concentration of the item at 100 mg/L with ajustment of pH was tested. When pH was not neutralised, LC50_96h has been shown to be 68.1 mg/L but no toxicity was observed when pH was adjusted.
