Description of key information

The substance, under the test conditions, is not a skin sensitizer.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

The barium hexaferrite was tested for its skin sensitisation potential by means of a guinea pig maximization test (GMPT) as modified by Maurer & Hess. The test method is similar to the conventional GMPT and the necessary modification did not affect the reliability of the study. The study results indicate that the substance is not a skin sensitizer.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

Though no specific information is available at the present, both the acute inhalation toxicity test and the long-term inhalation toxicity test do not document any sensitizing effect.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
At the present, no specific information is available.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Directive 67/548/EEC and to Regulation (EC) n. 1272/2008, the study results indicate that the substance should not be classified as skin sensitizer.

According to Directive 67/548/EEC and to Regulation (EC) n. 1272/2008, the substance is not classified as respiratory sensitizer because of data lacking.
