Description of key information

Read across from GLP and guideline compliant study results of Sodium salicylate were used to evaluate aquatic toxicity of Potassium salicylate. Sodium salicylate revealed no toxicity to Dapnia magna, instead the EC50 from toxicity to aquatic algae as calculated from probit analysis was observed to be 48.29 mg/L and EC50 graphically was observed to be 63.10 mg/. However, Sodium salicylate is readily biodegradable and thus according to CLP classification criteria and based on structural similarity, both Sodium salicylate and Potassium salicylate are not classified as hazardous to environment.
