test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of the analogue substance 1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic acid, mixed decyl and octyl triesters to the earthworm eisenia foetida was determined during a 14 day exposure period according to EEC Methods for Determination of Ecotoxicity, Directive 88/302/EEC. For the limit test with a concentration of 1000 mg/kg dry soil, the test substance was mixed with silica sand and afterwards added to soil substrate. After 7 and 14 days the effects of the test substance on the earthworms' survival were examined. No mortality occurred at the tested concentration after 7 and 14 days. The 14 day LC50 to Eisenia foetida was observed to be > 1000 mg/kg dry soil.

Based on the structural similarity and the observations made in the aquatic toxcicity studies, it can be concluded that Esterification products of Guerbet alcohols, C24-26, branched and cyclic with benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid 1,2-anhydride will also not exhibit toxic effects in soil macroorganisms.

Description of key information

Based on the available information for the analogue substance and the observations made in the aquatic toxcicity studies, it can be concluded that Esterification products of Guerbet alcohols, C24-26, branched and cyclic with benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid 1,2-anhydride will also not exhibit toxic effects in soil macroorganisms.
