Executive summary:

The study was conducted according to Method C3, 92/69/EEC. The test was performed exposing exponentially growing algal cultures (Selenastrum capricomutum) to the test item in concentrations ranging from 1.0 to 100 mg/L, increasing with a factor of 2.2. The total test period was 72 hours. The actual concentrations were in agreement with nominal. The EbC50 for biomass (72h) was 37 mg/L. The ErC50 for growth rate was >= 100 mg/L. Based on these results the test item is not classified with respect to possible harm for aquatic organisms.

Description of key information

The EC50 for growth inhibition (72h) was >= 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
4.6 mg/L
