Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Melting points were determined in an atmosphere of dry argon by the method of thermal arrests with the apparatus described by Bell and Masson, 1964.
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Melting / freezing pt.:

Conclusions:
The melting point of strontium fluoride, determined using the method of thermal arrests as decribed by Bell and Masson (1964), was determined at 1473°C.

Description of key information

Melting points are reported in literature for the two main constiuents which make up >99% of the substance. The melting point of the substance is expected to lie inbetween the melting points of BaF2 (1290 -1355°C) and SrF2 (1473°C).
