Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
surface tension
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Justification for type of information:
Performed using recognised guideline methods.
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
GLP compliance:
no
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Not specified, but production material would have been used. Assumed to be water-based material, but as the test was performed at two concentrations with no difference in the result, the use of water-based production material is not considered to influence the results
Surface tension:
ca. 73 mN/m
Temp.:
21 °C
Conc.:
1 mg/L
Surface tension:
ca. 69 mN/m
Temp.:
21 °C
Conc.:
1 g/L

The concentrations are thought to be based on commerical grade material supplied in water at ca 50% so concentrations expressed as actives will be 0.5 mg/l and 0.5 g/l. This does not impact on the results and the substance is not considered to be surface active

Conclusions:
Although the test report does not specify whether the test material was commercial (50% in water) or as a dried material, this does not impact on the results and the substance is not considered to be surface active.
The structure of the substance contains no polar groups and surface activty is not a desired function of the substance.

Description of key information

The substance is not considered to be surface active.

The structure of the substance contains no polar groups and surface activity is not a desired function of the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
70
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
500
