Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on the solubility of fatty acids, C6-19-branched, calcium salts in water, a complete dissociation of fatty acids, C6-19-branched, calcium salts may be assumed. Upon dissolution, calcium and C6-19-branched fatty acid ions, the latter represented by read-across to the structural analogue neodecanoic acid, therefore determine the environmental fate of fatty acids, C6-19-branched, calcium salts. Calcium is highly mobile under all environmental conditions and occurs in solution as dissociated Ca2+ ions. A European median log Kp value of 2.73 L/kg is derived for sediment-water partitioning, and calcium is expected to be highly mobile in suspended matter and soil. For neodecanoic acid (representative for C6-19-branched fatty acids), the soil adsorption coefficient Koc was estimated using KOCWIN with 121 and may be sensitive to pH. Therefore, fatty acids, C6-19-branched, calcium salts may be assumed to be mobile under environmental conditions.
