Details on results:
At 20C, log Pow values were estimated by the HPLC estimation method to range from unretained (log Pow <-0.64) to > 4.9 for hydrazine carboximidamide, 2 [(2 hydroxyphenyl)methylene] – reaction products with 2 undecanone.
Conclusions:
The n-octanol/water partition coefficient (Pow) of the test substance was determined by comparison to compounds with known log Pow values based upon retention times on an HPLC analytical column at 25C. The test substance was designated hydrazine carboximidamide, 2 [(2 hydroxyphenyl) methylene] – reaction products with 2-undecanone.
The test substance was dissolved in 75:25 methanol:water. The samples were injected onto a C 18 HPLC column with 70:30 methanol:water as mobile phase. This method resulted in the retention of reference standards with known log Pow values of 0.3 to 4.9 to be retained on the column from approximately 3.5 to 35 minutes. Thiourea (an unretained organic compound) was injected to establish dead time. The test substance was injected onto the column, and the eluent was monitored using a mass spectrometer. Multiple peaks were detected between approximately 3.1 and 45.2 minutes. The first resolved sample peak, observed at approximately 3.1 minutes, eluted before or with the thiourea and was therefore determined to be unretained. The last peak from the sample injection, at approximately 45 minutes, eluted after the reference standard with the highest known log Pow value (4.9). At 20C, the average log Pow value was estimated by the HPLC estimation method to range from unretained to > 4.9 for hydrazine carboximidamide, 2 [(2 hydroxyphenyl)methylene] – reaction products with 2 undecanone.
Executive summary:

At 20C,  log Pow values were estimated by the HPLC estimation method to range from unretained (log Pow <-0.64)  to > 4.9 for hydrazine carboximidamide, 2 [(2 hydroxyphenyl)methylene] – reaction products with 2 undecanone.
