Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Test procedure:
- burning rate test: preliminary screening test
- Remarks on result:
- other: No ignition was observed throughout the course of the test.
- Interpretation of results:
- other: not classified based on CLP criteria
- Conclusions:
- Under the study conditions, the test substance is not highly flammable.
- Executive summary:
A study was conducted to determine the flammability of the substance according to EU Method A.10 and UN Test Method N.1 as described in the UN Recommendations of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criterian part III, sub-section 33.2.1.4. In the preliminary screening test following the EU and the UN method, the test substance was heated with the flame of a teclu burner. The test substance melted into a light-yellow liquid. A brown-black residue was observed. No sign of ignition within two minutes.Under the study conditions, the substance was not classified as a readily combustible solid (Krebs, 2018)
Reference
Safety pre-test: The test substance melted into a light-yellow liquid. The liquid burned with big orange flame and a black residue was observed.
Preliminary screening test: In the preliminary screening test following the EU and the UN method, the test substance was heated with the flame of a teclu burner. The test substance melted into a light-yellow liquid. A brown-black residue was observed. No sign of ignition within two minutes.
Remark to the test substance: The test substance showed signs of inhomogeneous, because different colours (white and intense yellow parts) were observed.
Results and discussion: No ignition was observed throughout the course of the test. The test substance should be considered as not highly flammable (for EU regulations) and as non-flammable solid (for UN regulations).
Description of key information
The flammability potential was determined according to EU Method A.10 and UN Method N.1 (Krebs, 2018).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- not classified
Additional information
Justification for classification or non-classification
During the study, the test substance melted, but no propagation or smouldering was observed. In the preliminary screening test, the test substance was seen not to ignite and therefore the study author concluded that no further testing is required. Based on the study result, the test substance was determined to be not highly flammable and considered as not classified based on EU CLP criteria.
