Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Justification for type of information:
The decomposition energy of the substance is less than 500J/g as determined by DSC-Measurement. See further information in the cross-ref.

Test conducted in closed glass crucibles:

In the temperature range of 80 – 120 °C an endothermic effect can be observed. In the temperature range of 260 – 350 °C an exothermic effect was detected, with a decomposition energy of <-210 J/g. Due to the fact that a pressure rise occurred at 350 °C, the exothermic effect was cut at 350 °C.

Test conducted in closed gold plated stainless steel crucibles:

In the temperature range of 80 - 120 °C an endothermic effect can be observed. In the temperature range of 270 - 390 °C an exothermic effect was detected, with a decomposition energy of -280 J/g.

Conclusions:
The test item Alpha-D-glucose pentaacetate (CAS no. 604-68-2) showed an exothermic effect in the temperature range of 260 – 390 °C with a maximum decomposition energy of -280 J/g.
Executive summary:

The test item Alpha-D-glucose pentaacetate (CAS no.604-68-2) showed an exothermic effect in the temperature range of 260 – 390 °C with a maximum decomposition energy of -280 J/g.
