Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
The water-accommodated fractions were prepared for the test. This was done by weighing the nominal loads, adding the corresponding amount of dilution water and shaking vigorously
for 24 hours in the first experiment respectively 23 hours in the second experiment. experiment.
The resulting solutions were filtrated through 0.45 μm Cellulose ester filters.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Strain: Danio rerio HAMILTON-BUCHANAN
- Source: Dehner Garten Center, 67433 Neustadt
- Age at study initiation (mean and range, SD): sexually immature young fish
- Length at study initiation (length definition, mean, range and SD): 2 +/- 1 cm

ACCLIMATION
- Acclimation period: at least 12 days
- Type and amount of food during acclimation: three times a day with warmwater fishfood , totalling about 1-2% of body weight per day

Husbandry
-Vessels: polyethylene aquaria

Test conditions

Hardness:
0.83 mmol/L
Test temperature:
experiment 1: 20.5 – 21.8 °C
experiment 2: 20.4– 21.2 °C
pH:
experiment 1: 6.7 - 7.7
experiment 2: 6.5 -7.8
Dissolved oxygen:
The concentration of dissolved oxygen was at least 8.5 mg/L or 98 % in the first experiment respectively 7.7 mg/L or 85 % in the second experiment throughout the test.
Salinity:
not applicable
Conductivity:
228 µS/cm at 25°C
Nominal and measured concentrations:
The measured concentrations were in a range of 98 % - 104 % of the nominal concentration in the 1st experiment
and between 82 % - 104 % of the nominal concentration in the 2nd experiment. Therefore, the determination of the results of was based on the nominal concentrations.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Two experiments were performed.
The 1st experiment was performed as a limit test at the concentration 100 mg/L. Because significant mortality (57%) was observed in the treatment, a second experiment was performed using concentrations in the range of 10 – 100 mg/L.
In the 2nd experiment, only the highest concentrated treatment containing 100 mg/L showed 71% mortality.
A 96-hour LC50 value of 94 mg/L has been determined for the effects of the test substance on mortality of Danio rerio based on nominal exposure concentrations of the substance. The test substance hydrolyses in water and it is therefore likely that the test organisms were primarily exposed to the hydrolysis products of the substance.
