Boiling point:

Based on prediction done using MPBPVP v1.43, the Boiling point of chemical C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) was  estimated to be 1560˚C.

Density:

The density of chemical C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) was estimated to be 2.8 ± 0.1 g/cm3.

Particle size distribution (Granulometry):

The particle size distribution of C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 147 micron to 52 micron.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of the test substance C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) at 25 deg C was 1.06E-39 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

Octanol water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of test chemical Copper,[tetrahydrogen-3,3'-[(3,3'-dihydroxy-4,4'-biphenylylene)bis(azo)]bis[5-amino-4-hydroxy-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonato](4-)]di-,tetrasodium salt (7CI)  (CAS no. 28407-37-6) was determined to be -0.77 dimenionless. By considering log Pow value it is concluded that this test chemical is hydrophilc in nature and it is also supported by high water solubility of this test chemical.

Water solubility:

The water solubility of C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) is determined to be in the range of 10000 - 50000 mg/L at 17 °C.

Surface tension:

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study need only be conducted if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. The  C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) is used as a laboratory chemical, Synthesis of substances, and as dye etc. For this use, surface activity is not an important property. Hence this study was considered for waiver.

Flash point:

The flash point of C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) is determined to be greater than 360°C.

Autoflammability:

C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus C.I Direct Blue 218 (CAS no. 28407-37-6) was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains some chemical group associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200, hence this study considered to be waiver.

Oxidising properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
