Description of key information

Granulometry is specific to each manufacturer of Ammonium Perchlorate.  Manufacturers may produce several qualities of Ammonium Perchlorate which are characterized by different particle size distributions. Granulometry data about main qualities are presented in the following study records.

Particle size distribution of Ammonium Perchlorate is determined by the manufacturing process. This is a key parameter for uses of Ammonium Perchlorate. Each application needs a specific and well-defined granulometry.

Each manufacturer has developed his own know how about Ammonium Perchlorate granulometry and may have different methods to check his production in relationships with his customers. This is why the dossier presents several endpoint study records : each concerns one manufacturer, one method of measurement and the related qualities of Ammonium Perchlorate.

On the point of view of physical hazards, granulometry is also a key parameter on which depend the explosive properties of the substance and the corresponding classification. Each manufacturer may undertake specific studies to demonstrate if his different qualities of Ammonium Perchlorate present or not an explosive hazard.

For inhalation risk characterization in the Chemical Safety Report, each manufacturer is responsible for determining the level of dustiness of his different qualities of Ammonium Perchlorate, in correlation with the tool used to estimate exposure.
