One experimental study according to EU Method C.4-E indicates that the substance is not readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria (0% biodegradation after 28 d). The degradation via abiotic hydrolysis is not considered to be a relevant degradation pathway in the environment. Experimental data indicate DT50 values > 1 yr (pH 7, 9 extrapolated to 25 °C from preliminary test) and 286 d (pH 4 at 20 °C from the main test). Considering the water solubility of 663 mg/L and the low to moderate potential for adsorption to organic soil and sediment particles (log Koc: 2.41 - 2.56 L/kg, mean: 2.49 L/kg, KOCWIN v2.00), the main compartment for environmental distribution is expected to be the surface water. Evaporation into air and the transport through the atmospheric compartment is not considered to be relevant based on the Henry’s Law Constant of 32.14 Pa m³/mole (HenryWin v3.20) and a vapour pressure of 15 Pa at 25 °C.
