RESULTS

THERMAL SENSITIVITY

There were no explosions observed in any of the six tests in serial 1 and serial 2, respectively. All tubes were undamaged after the testing. The test item burned down with yellow flame after 60 seconds in serial 1 and after approximately 50 seconds in serial 2.

It can be reported that there is no explosive property of 1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxy-4-nitrobenzene induced by flame.

MECHANICAL SENSITIVITIY (SHOCK)

None of the six single tests showed any reaction.

It can be reported that there is no explosive property of 1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxy-4-nitrobenzene induced by shock.

MECHANICAL SENSITIVITY (FRICTION)

None of the six single tests showed an explosion (crackle or bang) or inflammation of the test item which would have indicated a positive result. The optical properties of the test item were unchanged after the test.

It can be reported that there is no explosive property of 1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxy-4-nitrobenzene induced by friction.

Executive summary:

SUMMARY

The explosive properties of the test item 1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxy-4-nitrobenzene were determined according to European Commission Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008,Annex, Part A, A.14.

The method provides a scheme of testing to determine whether a solid or a pasty item presents a danger of explosion when submitted to the effect of a flame (thermal sensitivity) or to shock or friction (sensitivity to mechanical stimuli).

The method comprises three parts:

(a)test of thermal sensitivity............................................................... no reaction

(b)test of mechanical sensitivity with respect to shock. .........no reaction

(c)test of mechanical sensitivity with respect to friction......... no reaction

The results and observations of the tests verify that the test item
1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxy-4-nitrobenzene
has no explosive properties at all.
