Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
07.January.2008-20.February.2008
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP study, ISO 3679
Qualifier:

Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
ISO 3679 (Determination of flash point - Rapid equilibrium closed cup method)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Test objective
The objective of the test is to determine the lowest temperature at which the test item produces vapour in a closed container and under conditions defined in the method, in such amounts that a flammable vapour/air mixture is formed. This temperature or flash point
is expressed in degrees Celsius.
Principle
The test item is placed in a container which is gradually heated until the concentration of the vapour in air is sufficiently high to produce a flammable mixture which could be ignited.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
equilibrium method closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
Setaflash apparatus
